Melissa grew up in a loving home. Her mom worked hard to give their family a good life, but Melissa still faced some difficulties in her childhood. She developed a substance use disorder (SUD) because she wanted to fit in and feel connection.
When Melissa started pursuing her recovery, she found the community and support she'd been looking for through her relationship with God.
