Recovery is not a single step, but rather a whole healing journey—and Jessica has grown every step of the way. For many people, multiple attempts at recovery are a part of the process. Jessica says: "You haven't failed necessarily if you're not able to sustain recovery, you know, on the first attempt or the second attempt or the third, whatever that is for you." Every effort matters in the path to recovery.
When she was in her third inpatient treatment program, her providers suggested that depression might be contributing to her substance use disorder (SUD). That insight really resonated with Jessica, and ended up making all the difference in her path to long-term, sustained recovery. She's so thankful for everything that has brought her to where she is in her recovery today. Jessica says, "It's really beyond my wildest dreams."
If you or someone you know might be experiencing depression, CalHOPE can help. Connect by chat at calhope.org or by phone at (833) 317-4673.
