Danny Talks About How Addiction Can Happen to Anyone

Danny wants to honor Kathy's life and memory.

Danny had a beautiful marriage with his childhood sweetheart, Kathy. She was "an extraordinary human being," Danny says. She was a talented seamstress and they ran a business together. However, things didn't pan out the way Danny thought they would, and sadly he lost Kathy to her mental health condition and substance use disorder (SUD) just last year.

Now, Danny wants to honor Kathy's life and memory by helping people understand that SUD is a treatable medical condition. He hopes that sharing Kathy's story will help make conversations around SUD easier for other couples to have. "It's okay to talk about it," Danny says. "It's been very empowering for me."
