Mary has been crocheting for much of her life—beanies, blankets. Right now, she’s making a blanket for her daughter. For much of her life, Mary was using substances, too, but that changed last year when she entered a residential treatment program.
Today her kids—and her hope for grandkids—keep her going in recovery. “I can’t wait to see my grandchildren. I can’t wait to see my kids have their babies And I want to be there for them.”
More good things are coming for Mary—she can just feel it. After 30 years of substance use, Mary is on a different path. People can and do recover.
That hope and belief keep her moving forward. “I haven’t given up on that feeling. I don’t think I will this time. If I stay strong a little bit longer I think my life is going to—it’s going to bloom,” she says.
