Jesse Advocates for Mothers Using MOUD

Jesse loves doing arts and crafts with her sons, who are four and a half and two and a half.

“Painting birdhouses, making collages—right now we’re making fairy houses,” she says. “We take a watering can, and my husband will cut little windows and doors in it, and then we decorate it as though the fairies found it and made it and then put it in the garden."

Jesse is like a lot of California moms in that while growing her family, she’s received ongoing care for a medical condition. During both pregnancies, part of her care plan included medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), which helped her maintain her recovery and be the healthiest mom she could be for her little ones. Today, they’re all thriving together.
