Danny Opens Up To Fight Stigma

Updated: Nov 13

There's always more than meets the eye with other people, and we need to make an effort to understand them deeply to help support them with whatever they're going through.

Danny knows what it is like to be stigmatized. He was in prison from ages 17 to 30. As he says, "I feel because of my lived experience, I have something to offer other people that have a similar experience." He shares his story to connect to people in similar situations, and offer them hope and inspiration.

Danny encourages other people to share their stories as well, in order to fight stigma. He's created a presentation called the "Trauma Tree," which reminds us that, while we may see what someone is going through, we don't often see the reasons behind it, or the "roots." There's always more than meets the eye with other people, and we need to make an effort to understand them deeply to help support them with whatever they're going through.
